NIGHT WITH CROWN
WEEK 11
As part of Belfast Design Week, I had the opportunity to attend the open studio night at Crown Creative, an experience that was both inspiring and insightful as an emerging designer. Being able to step inside such a well-established and respected design studio offered a real glimpse into the culture, thinking, and atmosphere behind their work.
One of the first things that stood out to me was the studio space itself. The interiors felt beautifully considered, reflecting the same level of care and intention seen throughout Crown Creative’s projects. Every detail within the space felt curated, creating an environment that was both welcoming and creatively inspiring. The studio balanced a refined, contemporary aesthetic with a sense of warmth and personality, making it feel less like a corporate workspace and more like a creative environment built around collaboration and ideas.
What I found particularly interesting was how strongly their branding existed throughout the studio. Crown Creative clearly takes pride in its identity, with branding integrated confidently across the space through signage, printed materials, typography, colour palettes, and subtle visual details. Rather than feeling excessive, the branding reinforced the studio’s personality and values, creating a cohesive experience from the moment you entered. It demonstrated how branding is not just something applied to client work, but something that can shape an entire environment and culture.
Seeing this in person made me appreciate the importance of consistency and intentionality within design. The studio itself almost became an extension of the brand, communicating professionalism, creativity, and confidence through every visual element. It showed how strong branding can create an immersive experience and leave a lasting impression beyond just logos or graphics alone.
The evening also provided the chance to see a variety of projects, hear more about Crown Creative’s approach, and observe how a successful studio operates within the creative industry. As someone particularly interested in branding, typography, and editorial design, it was motivating to see how these elements are applied professionally within a real studio setting.
Overall, attending the open studio night was a really valuable experience. It not only gave insight into the realities of working within a design studio but also reinforced how thoughtful design can shape atmosphere, identity, and human connection within creative spaces.
